posting for my neighbour only one left - plastic basket at least 30 years old, perhaps more so, when these were made, part of the design was to include air bubbles all over - it's a decorative feature on this one, there is an imperfection in one section of one side my best guess is that there was a fairly big air bubble close to the surface and it suffered a temperature shock (likely at fabrication) this changed its outward appearance, however it doesn't appear to have actually broken the structure if you run your hand along the surface, you can feel a bit of texture and there is no risk of getting cut there appear to be no issues with the item's structural integrity, as far as i can observe, and it was used this way for many years i have included a photo of the area head on, and another with it facing in the opposite direction great for fermenting beverages such as wine, mead, cider, perry, and beer also for decorative purposes
