Solid walnut with burl panels. American made, the seat is very comfortable. Dating from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880 this chaise or fainting couch is solid walnut with burl panels. Called a "Recamier" in French, in New Orleans that this elegant and luxurious furniture is referred to as a "hussy" couch. Often called a "fainting couch", this Victorian Eastlake period recamier or chaise lounge would be an excellent addition to a living room or boudoir.
