The company was originally called The E. A. Bliss Co. The company started making men's watch chains. In 1890, the company moved to Meriden, Connecticut. During World War I and World War II, the company made war-related items like medals and medallions instead of jewelry.  
 In 1920, James H. Napier became president of the company.  
 In 1922, the company changed its name to The Napier-Bliss Co.  
 In 1922, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary.   The company embraced European jewelry design, introducing a Paris-inspired line in 1920.   The company created floral designs using a variety of manufacturing techniques, including die-stamping and rhinestones.  
 The company produced a large variety of bow and bow knot designs in the 1940s.   The “Napier”Company was the first U.S. brand to manufacture fashion jewelry in the U.S.
