Dating from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880 this chaise or fainting couch is solid walnut with burl panels. Called a "Recamier" in French, in New Orleans that this elegant and luxurious furniture is referred to as a "hussy" couch. Often called a "fainting couch", this Victorian Eastlake period recamier or chaise lounge would be an excellent addition to a living room or boudoir.
