$400 “MARGUERITE STUBER PEARSON ”(1898-1978) “”Moment Musicale “Vintage Lithography Print , Painter-teacher Marguerite S. Pearson was born in Philadelphia and she died in Rockport, MA a world-famous genre, portrait and still life painter. She lived in Somerville (MA) until 1925 and summered in Rockport, MA beginning in 1920, built a home there in 1941 and moved into it permanently in 1942.She studied at Boston's Museum. She focused on scenes of domestic life, often with single solitary women doing tasks like writing, sewing or playing the piano. Born in Philadelphia, in childhood shy had polio,that confined her to a wheel chair, but she overcame that condition to have a distinguished career as a painter of exquisite interior scenes, figures and still life. She studied with Frederick Bosley at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and studied figure painting with Edmund Tarbell. In 1941, she moved to Rockport, Massachusetts where she had been spending her summers. She was an active painter until age 80, and also taught classes in her studio. 27.5 x 32 inches , framed in beautiful soft black & gold & covered with glass surface. (American, 1898–1978) She was best known for her elegant portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and interiors. Produced in a loose academic style with a subtle understanding of light and color, she often portrayed quiet moments as seen in her work At The Melodeon (1928).
